Your skin will thank you for giving it a jolly good scrub once or twice a week and a healthy dose of lotion on a more regular basis - but will it really thank you for using products which are oozing with chemicals?
When Sniffy Wiffy was a mere twinkle in our eye, we wondered whether it would be possible to create products with as few ingredients as possible, negating the need for an ingredient list like the following well-known body lotion:
"Aqua, Glycerin, Coco-Caprylate/Caprate, Polyglyceryl-3 Methylglucose Distearate, Ethylhexyl Methoxycinnamate,Stearyl Alcohol, Panthenol, Tocopheryl Acetate, Bisabolol, Pentylene Glycol, Sodium Lactate, Lactic Acid, Serine, Urea, Sorbitol, Pantolactone, Allantoin, Stearic Acid, Laureth-7, Sodium Chloride, Citric Acid, Disodium EDTA, Butyl Methoxydibenzoylmethane, 4-Methylbenzylidene Camphor, Polyacrylamide, C13-14 Isoparaffin, Methylparaben, Sodium Hydroxymethylglycinate, Propylparaben, BHT".
Our main worry was that if we didnt use many ingredients, particularly ingredients such as those listed above, would our products be any good?
So, we began to experiment and were super-excited to discover that gorgeous products that fortunately have the side-effect of leaving your skin looking and feeling awesome (phew) can be made with very few ingredients indeed.
They do say that "less is more"....
Sniffy Wiffy Bath & Massage Oils and Body Scrubs contain an impressive 4 ingredients, Hand Cream and Body Lotion just 5 and our Hair & Body Wash and Foaming Hand Soap 6 . Ingredients are listed in the product description of each product in our shop.
One ingredient that, we feel, deserves a special mention is preservative. Let us explain....
Legally, if a product contains water, it has to contain a preservative in order to be sold to the public. Therefore, due to the presence of spring water in our Body Lotions, Hand Creams, Hair & Body Washes and Soaps these, of course, contain a preservative.
Although our Body Scrubs do not contain water, as it would be near impossible to use these in the bath or shower without getting them wet, we pop some preservative into these too.
Our preservative of choice is called 'Preservative 12', chosen because it is "an innovative, more natural 'soft' preservative" (www.aromantic.co.uk). Preservative 12 is odourless and only a tiny amount (infact, a maximum of 1% of the whole product) is required. This amounts to a matter of drops. The upside is that our products last at least a year.
If you are seeking a preservative-free product then our Bath & Massage Oils are naturally free from preservatives due to no water content.
